Pizza dough with Italian herbs

• Rising time: at least 1 hour
• Cooking time: 5 to 10 minutes (pre-baking) + 5 to 10 minutes (final baking)
• Total Time: 1 hour and 35 minutes
• Servings: For 2 large or 4-6 smaller pizzas

Ingredients and Supplies:

For the pizza dough:
o 500 grams of flour (type 00) + some extra
o 1 sachet of yeast
o 325 ml warm water
o 0.5 teaspoon sugar
o 1.5 teaspoon salt
o 2 generous tablespoons of olive oil
o 2 tablespoons Italian herbs

1. Add the yeast and sugar to the warm water, stir gently and then let it sit for a few minutes until it starts to foam slightly.

2. Meanwhile, combine the flour, Italian herbs and salt in a large bowl.

3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture.

4. Stir the mixture with your hands until it forms a ball.

5. Sprinkle some flour on the counter and knead the dough. Add extra flour if the dough is too sticky.

6. Knead the dough for at least 10 minutes for a nice, elastic structure. (a food processor makes the job easier)

7. Let the dough rise in a bowl greased with olive oil, covered with a clean tea towel.

8. After about an hour the dough should have increased in volume. (We let it stand longer to get extra elastic dough)
Meanwhile, preheat the BBQ and pizza stone to approximately 250°C.

9. Cut the dough into halves or quarters, depending on the size of the pizzas you want to make.

10. Knead the dough briefly and roll it out into a pizza shape.

11. Spread the sauce over the pizza base and pre-bake it in the BBQ for 5-10 minutes. (depending on the temperature of your BBQ)

Add your favorite toppings and bake the pizza in the oven for about 5-10 minutes until golden brown and crispy. (depending on the temperature of your BBQ)
